Why Is My Dog Being Sick? Causes & Solutions

Seeing your dog vomit can be worrying, but occasional sickness isn’t always a concern. However, if vomiting is frequent, or you notice blood, diarrhoea, or lethargy, consult your vet immediately.

Is Your Dog Transitioning to Wolfworthy?

If your dog is switching to Wolfworthy, mild stomach upset can happen. To ensure a smooth transition:

✔️ Follow a 14-day transition period. Read our Transition Guide.

✔️ Check portion sizes – overfeeding can cause sickness or soft stools.

✔️ Limit treats to keep their diet simple.

Common Reasons Dogs Vomit

  • Did they eat something they shouldn’t? Dogs often swallow things they shouldn’t while out on walks or at home.
  • Could it be a stomach bug? If your dog seems subdued, they may have a virus. Check with your vet if similar cases have been reported in your area.
  • Vomiting Yellow Bile? This usually happens when a dog’s stomach is empty, causing acid buildup. To help:

✔️ Feed them later at night or earlier in the morning.

✔️ If frequent, consult your vet.

  • Vomiting After Eating? If your dog throws up right after meals, it could be due to:

1️⃣ Eating too much – Check our feeding guide for the right portion size.

2️⃣ Eating too fast – Try a slow feeder bowl to prevent gulping. Read our Slow Feeder guide.

💬 Need feeding advice? Send us your dog’s breed, age, weight, body condition (overweight, underweight, or just right), expected adult weight (if under 12 months), and neuter status, and we’ll check for you!
