Why is the colour sometimes different?

Occasionally our food may be presented as a slightly different colour or appearance. Slight changes are something that is to be expected from time to time and here is why we are very proud of that.

We do not change our recipe. Wolfworthy uses natural ingredients and raw materials which are influenced by seasonality and the life cycle which they undertake. For example, fish caught earlier in the year can have more fat and may present different colours to those caught later in the season. Sweet potatoes can have a higher or lower level of starch depending on the time of harvest. Starch is what binds our food together, more starch makes it more sticky, lower starch can make it drier or easier to break open.

In addition to the natural raw materials, there are also influences via the cooking method that we employ. For example, simply adding slightly more steam to the cooking process can have a significant impact on the shade of colouring. We cook to the lowest temperature possible to reserve nutrients but kill bacteria and pathogens. If we baked at a higher temperature the colour would be more uniform but this is against our values

We are proud to say we don't add any artificial colours, flavours or preservatives which would make a more uniform product but would be against our values.

Do you love the idea of feeding raw but hate the mess, fuss or your dog just won't eat it? Wolfworthy is the dry food alternative to feeding raw. It has the same health benefits but is easy to store, handle and travel with. So you can relax knowing your dog is satisfied, healthy and well-cared for but without all the hassle.

How did we do?
